Thanks, Peter, for this South Africa article. My library includes a sailing book about your area that takes place in the early 1970s: "The Walkabouts- A Family At Sea" [by Mike Saunders c. 1975}. Mike was born in J-Burg and then lived in (then) Rhodesia, bought a 33-foot ketch and then he & family--wife and four kids-- sailed to England via Brazil. Being a sailor, I thought you'd appreciate this entertaining read.

Many thanks, jo blo for your thoughtfulness. I do enjoy reading these true stories having learned so much from them over the years. The title rings a bell in the distant past so I will be sure to get a copy. Simons Town accommodates many passing round-the-world cruisers and we never have enough time to share all our adventures before they move.

I'm going to comment about the image at the top of this article in a good-hearted manner - sort of like I do when my wife and I are sitting together - watching TV.

~

So there are four fellas in the image, all well dressed in purplish outfits, three of them are smiling with teeth and one sort of has a "smirk-grin" on his face. The one to the left per the view of the observer isn't as sure about himself, but the two in the middle been through this sort of thing and they know how to put on a show. The fella on the right seems a little shorter than the others, but nothing wrong with being a little less tall is there - plus he seems fairly stout.

~

I reckon South Africa especially where you reside is a pretty decent place to call home.

~

Oh gracious me - I ought not forget the instruments they have in hand - at least several of them - they are sort of a gourd dried out attached to a stick with some pebbles in it - and if you have one in each hand you can help keep the rhythm.

~

If I was there - for sure - I would like to listen to their music.

Thanks Ken, yes it is pretty decent here and the people are lovely. We have been running around settling in these last few weeks - it amazes me how much admin and BS there is to do, from setting up comms to opening a bank account and goodness knows what! We came back to the flat we had 14 years ago - so lots to do just to get it liveable again!

When I get sorted I will take photos for you, like you do on your site.

Thank you so much - a lovely read.

As long as some people, somewhere are thriving, I am happy!

Many thanks, Zarayna, for your kind words, it means so much to know at least one heart has been touched. I only wish I could write good things about 'Broken Britain' when I write the next Letter from Great Britain, due Saturday 13, 2024 - I will look harder! :-)

Please don't spend too much time looking for good things about us - (our 'government' is taking us down) there are only so many hours in the day!

Please enjoy your well-deserved, lovely life.

Thanks Zarayna, for your good wishes but the angels brought me here for a reason and my good fortune has to be accounted for - it is my mission in life to carry the Good News to the people.

"Because you said: “God is my refuge,” You have made the Most High your dwelling; no disaster will befall you, and no plague will come near your tent. For he will give his angels a command concerning you, to guard you in all your ways. They will carry you on their hands, so that you may not strike your foot against a stone." [Psalm 91:9-12]

I have lived a protected life because of my faith.

I think you have returned to SA just in a nick of time. My research is clearly showing that the days of what now passes for normal are very short. This week, after I recently published several explosive research articles regarding what has really been going on all this last year and what is soon coming, Substack has begun to actually censor my blog by labeling my posts "explicit" and blacking out the thumbnail when people attempt to Restack. This is while they defend the right of alleged "Nazi's" to have their say on Substack. It actually looks like the tactic is backfiring because my growth is increasing rather than decreasing.

It looks like a lovely, safe place where you are at. Probably about as good as anywhere you could be. Things are about to get real "interesting" both here in the US and in Europe. I look forward to seeing more posts from your new southern base!

Many thanks, Et - we have always been on the same page, and yes, here is as safe for now. These nutters will blow it all up in the end because their Ponzi scheme is now crashing and they have nowhere else to go. Keep up the good work my friend - Team Normal will win in the end.
