Quite interesting that revenues were up 21% and that spending dropped just a little. We shall see what the next looks like. Accounting tricks in a falling economy are not unexpected.
Ah! You are speaking my language HH - I have been familiar with accounting tricks from early on in my career (window dressing). I ran my own accountancy practice in SW England during the 1980s, so I am blessed with inside information from HMRC et al (we used to have soirees where we exchanged ideas!).
When a client was confronted with the dreaded letter: " We understand that you have not declared all your income" - They phoned me and I accompanied them to the dreaded 'Nazi Interrogation'. Believe me when a client has gone through this experience - he will always declare honestly and properly each year in future.
But there are always 'fly-by' newcomers who think they can beat the system - but it will get them in the end. It grinds slowly but finely and eventually few escape - even if you are Robert Maxwell, who i met in 1986 - the Jackals got him in the end: For elucidation read:

Thanks HH - a very good observation which i too have noted. I guess it's a standard play-book - sort of unchanging human nature seeking to control others since time immemorial.
I share your dilemma about the reading backlog - I too fear mine will outlive me at 78 - but I do have a few years to go. My doc says I am fit enough to make 100 but I am not concerned because I know my Maker will call me when my mission on earth is complete.
Go well dear buddy and thank you for being such a faithful supporter. It is only through interactions like this that I learn so much more each day thanks to the power of the Internet. :-)
I was a counsellor to AA for 10 years in the 1990s and find their layman's teachings invaluable for everyone:
Absolutely brilliant Robinson - thank you so much. I have been looking for such a short and simple explanation of Common Law which is so difficult for a living wo/man to understand. This does it all in 10 mins. A few months ago I attended a seminar on this subject and it took all day!
