ERRATA! - I've done it again - Brain Fogg! In BREAKING NEWS - please read "IMMIGRATION" for "INFLATION" :-) But the sentence also makes sense for inflation too - HMG have indeed increased everything except our wages!
Brilliant 'N' - I will use it this week in my Letter - I missed it although I do follow RFK on Childrens Defence. Excellent rousing call which I promote all the time as you know.
What people do not understand about the debt deal is that it will bring another crushing round of inflation right along with it. They just do not get it that every time the government spends more than it brings in the inflation comes.
Great links. Having been a businessman the better part of my adult life with some college education on that front, brings me to where I am now with a garden and a decent retirement. Eating healthy is a big thing at our house.
On the debt, there can be no default as long as the interest is serviced on the debt. So they could pay the interest on the debt and continue to negotiate until a sound compromise was made. They can fund any programs in the interim deemed necessary and avoid all of this fake drama, and posturing. Check out my notes posting from Tom Woods if you get a chance, it is worth a read.
As long as they keep selling bonds, Bert even if the Fed buys them, it will carry on until the currency gets undermined and that's anybody's guess - BOOM gives it at least 50 years. But no one has a crystal ball that I have found. :-)
Yes, the proposed new currency is a challenge Bert, but the dollar rules the world and even if the BRICS use their own currency of whatever type/nature they will have to obtain volume FX.

Good for you Bert. I must say that I have left some youthful addictions behind: drugs (tobacco), sex and rock 'n roll with alcohol as a side dish. But like you, I need coffee like my plants need water!

I do follow CHD daily but I never saw this video. I may not be searching all sections of the site!

Bravo. Am also a big fan of The Slog. John ward has been on it for years
Yes Paul, I think I caught up with him about 10 years ago - IMHO he's the bee's knees!

It's quite a complicated set-up, Bert and the outcomes are unpredictable because we are dealing with complex systems. CHS and I speak about this problem often: http://charleshughsmith.blogspot.com/2022/05/what-happens-when-complexity-unravels.html
In cases like this Bert I always run to Investopedia which I find to be very clear and generally accurate:https://www.investopedia.com/terms/d/debt-ceiling.asp
In short, we are up the creek without a paddle. In which case - run to Agri & PMs especially gold IMHO - but I've been wrong for 10 years after QE delayed the final death throes. You have to have Agri because we can't eat gold. https://www.thoughtco.com/traditional-economy-definition-and-examples-5180499

So do you think the BRICS can be an immediate to the dollar?
Yes, the proposed new currency is a challenge Bert, but the dollar rules the world and even if the BRICS use their own currency of whatever type/nature they will have to obtain volume FX.
However, they are on their way. The current BRICS five now contribute 31% of global GDP, while the G7 share has fallen to 30%: https://www.silkroadbriefing.com/news/2023/03/27/the-brics-has-overtaken-the-g7-in-global-gdp/

Yes, thanks Bert - I have the video but can't find it yet. In the meantime Neil Oliver at GB News has a similar message: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6TIas6Euzbw
That was excellent, he takes no prisoners and I like his style.

Sound reasoning. I will read the links over my morning coffee.
I love my morning coffee too Bert - can't get going without it - lifetime habit :-)
The only addiction still with me.
Good for you Bert. I must say that I have left some youthful addictions behind: drugs (tobacco), sex and rock 'n roll with alcohol as a side dish. But like you, I need coffee like my plants need water!
I still have the rock and roll addiction too. Scratched that itch on a road trip yesterday.
