It is remarkable how far this conditioning extends, so much so that all logical argument is dismissed, often with venom, and all non-conforming propositions are labelled heresy.

I experience this on a regular basis from the milk consuming sector.

Thank you Jimmy - a good example - if you look around and careful notice the way people behave, I see cults embedded everywhere. I guess it has always been so due the strong tribal affiliations we have always had throughout history. I guess it's more visible now because of our amazing global communication networks.

"Belonging to a group and feeling identified with those in that group is an important aspect of our identity and sense of self. In fact, having a strong sense of group identity can actually help buffer us when we feel wronged or attacked."

For 'tribes' read 'cults' in our modern world: https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/the-squeaky-wheel/202002/the-importance-belonging-tribe

This is excellent. The cult comparison is of course entirely relevant...of course "the other side" accuse us of being in our own cult....there are several distinct and important differences.

It is interesting to me that all of this is almost entirely due to weird psychological cross circuiting...of course I do not believe it is organic, but rather "forced" intentionally by those who want to benefit (usually serious stronge and dangerous mass psychology is intentionally fabricated by those in power). Human psychology is weird and often very destructive. I just watched the movie "The Killing Fields" again after many years, and once again, was astounded, but maybe not surprised (is that possible??) by how twisted human beings can be if coerced by a force big enough to coerce them (which, today, doesn't seem to take much). Fascinating...

I watched 'The Killing Fields' too and share your disbelief and surprise at your own reaction - it hit me too. I know my own psyche well enough to be fascinated with my dark side, something my supervisor and I explored together many years ago.

I quoted this is in one of my Letters some time ago: Goebbels quote:

“If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it. BUT the lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State."
