Many mini coups since USA's beginning.

Connecting dots in the timeline is easy.

That is as long as you stop using public edu textbooks.

The knowledge exists outside of the programing bubbles.

LOL - excellent advice Darius but many in the West chose not to see - cognitive dissonance abounds. Here in the Global South people could care less what's happening in the North. They tell me that they are living in a bubble paradise so until we are hit hard by any global conflict I guess they will carry on playing, laughing during so many braais, and generally enjoying the sun and sea. https://fbyc.co.za/?mailpoet_router&endpoint=view_in_browser&action=view&data=WzMxMiwiZDEwNjMwNmZmMDM1IiwxNjk1MiwiMWpoN2R4Z3Zha3cwdzhjd2NnOGtva3dzc2c0ZzhvY3MiLDI4OCwwXQ

Excellent article once again - thankyou for this analysis that connects dots.

I have an anecdotal story to tell and I'll try to be succinct.

Yesterday my wife and I went to refill our propane cylinders since we had to use them last week when the power went out - they were used for firing the generator and general purpose heating and cooking. When we went to the establishment turns out they had a larger portable tank, which I have been seeking out, and apparently it had been returned by a customer who said simply - "it doesn't work". The container was full and I examined it and really these containers with propane don't have many parts - the tank itself looked sound and the only thing that might not work is the valve on the top, but it looked fine to me. Be aware, propane cylinders nowadays will not release the contents if you turn the valve to "open" - it has to be connected to something for the propane gas to flow.....Anyhow, I expressed interest but then inquired about other tanks they had for sale not so mysterious - one of them was for forklifts and let me tell you - this thing was sweet - it has a gauge and was evidently very well made...but it wasn't cheap......I said - oh well - maybe next time......but as I was walking out, the manager said - how about this - I'll sell you the returned cylinder for half price plus you pay for the propane it contains.....well, I enjoy this sort of discourse and I figured - the full price quoted was actually less than I had seen recently and half-price - that was a good deal.....now if the valve wasn't working that would mean I would have to figure a way to release the gas and then replace the valve - but even if it happened that way - which I felt was less than 50% chance - the value of the cylinder was still worth it - especially since it was offered at half-price and who knows - the valve might actually work.

So I made the purchase, but there was one criteria from the manager - "cash only".....and I understood that - it made good sense for this transaction. I gave em what he asked for (my wife chipped in a bit, but I had more cash I could have dug out...), and then I bought the tank back home, plugged it into the generator, and it worked like a charm!

This is why sometimes cash transactions are better and I'm looking forward to your next article on "Localism".

Thank you for your kind words, Ken - BOOM certainly gets to the root of matters; he is an invaluable friend and colleague.

That's a wonderful story - happy stories are hard to find these days! I'll be describing our flat here on the mountain in future issues as we move towards full off-grid and later on self-sufficiency. With 8 months summer and mild autumn/spring almost everything grows well. 28C today with a light beeze (Cape Point is always cooler) - https://www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/forecast/k3vhsdpg9#?date=2024-01-18

Our goods arrived on Monday and so did some relatives, the builders, and then the plumber - so it was chaos. There were 25 boxes (Pickfords) to unpack and I still have 7 to go! I plan be be settled by next week.

Blessings

AP
