“(Government) regulation is an imperfect substitute for the accountability, and trust, built into a market in which food producers meet the gaze of eaters and vice versa.” [Michael Pollan]
I envy you the sunshine and smiles - long may they continue.
Btw, here in the UK, the 'authorities' increased the price for dispossing of rubbish to such an extent that it guaranteed flytipping - which, of course, results in more expense in addressing the problem they helped to cause.
Thanks, Zara for your kind words and yes the case is so often what we choose to disdain so it comes back to bite. 'What goes around comes around' - rule 'x' of the universe! LOL.
"But as to this, whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Let each one do just as he has resolved in his heart, not grudgingly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver." [2 Corinthians 9:6-7]
The Big Mac exchange rate has a built-in bias resulting from underweighting the cost of touch labour If the Rand is indeed undervalued, this should bode well for South African exports. Yet, this advantage is obliterated by the country's trade unions.
I attempted with my black South African business partner to increase low-skilled labour opportunities by re-opening a mine. The trade unions blocked the reopening without explanation.
Yes. it could well be so Bill, although in over 10 years in SA I haven't personally witnessed discrimination. Did the T rade Union explain why they turned you down? If I am confronted with a negative, I always ask for their opinion/challenge in writing, it woeks every time, even with banks! LOL
Thank you for a lovely, newsy newsletter.

That's very sad Bill -generally, SA has positive enterprise attitudes so you must have touched a nerve?
It could be that I am white.
